The Virginia Arts Festival has the following positions currently available:

Position Available: Virginia Arts Festival Development Associate

Hours: seasonal part-time position (20-30 hours per week)
Position runs from hire date through likely May 15
Salary: $15/hour

This person will be an integral member of the Development team and take an active role in various development and event functions for the Festival.

Functions:

Stewardship & Special Events (out of office/off-site/evening hours)
Approximately 8 hours/week

  • Act as on-site Development representative at select Festival events and performances
  • Transport, set up, break down, and return Development signage at performances
  • Greet guests as they arrive prior to performances
  • Must be available to work evenings
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Assist Development & Event Coordinator with pre- and post-performance reception set up and stay through reception to help with event flow
  • Greet guests arriving to pre- and post-performance receptions
  • Assist with Virginia International Tattoo VVIP Tent Check In
  • Other duties as assigned

Pre-Event Facilitation and Planning (in-office/daytime hours)
Approximately 12 hours/week

  • Assist with mailing event invitations
  • Assist with data entry and VIP list management, as needed
  • Collect RSVPs for events and respond to invitee inquiries
  • Help with guest lists for select special events
  • Work with Box Office staff to fulfill RSVP VIP ticketing needs
  • Create, maintain, and distribute reception guest lists and VIP ticketing lists
  • Assist with Virginia International Tattoo VVIP voucher distribution

Position Available: Virginia Arts Festival Seasonal Courier

Hours: seasonal full-time position (35-40 hours per week)
Position runs from March 25 – May 24, 2019
Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM until 5 PM unless otherwise arranged
Salary: $10/hour, plus mileage Required:

  • Good general knowledge of the Hampton Roads area and ability to use GPS and /or maps to deliver a variety of items around the area on behalf of VAF
  • Great attitude and willingness to assist with general office projects during periods of lower delivery activities
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
  • Own transportation and insurance
  • Background check

Seasonal Production Positions Available

The Virginia Arts Festival, entering its 23rd season, is a 10 week festival with a 75-plus performance schedule. We are currently seeking experienced individuals for our Seasonal Production Staff. Experience in one or some of the following areas preferred: Stage Management, Carpentry, Wardrobe, Lighting/Electrics, Company Management, Sound, General Run Crew, Event Management, Backstage Hospitality. Employment dates vary according to position and event and staff are typically scheduled on an as needed basis. There is some pre-season work available, but most work opportunities can begin late March and continue through the beginning of July.

Virginia Arts Festival Marketing/Public Relations Intern(s)

REPORTS TO: Marketing Department

We are looking for proactive, resourceful, and outgoing Marketing/Public Relations Interns for Fall and Spring. Hours are flexible (around 10-20 a week).

Although the position is unpaid, we offer a variety of perks and educational opportunities, as well as opportunities to see Festival performances. As an organization committed to arts education, we are looking for candidates that can not only contribute to our marketing department, but also learn and grow from the opportunity to work with VAF.

Virginia International Tattoo Internships

Non-paying internships are available with the Administrative, Production and Operations departments of the Virginia International Tattoo.

These internships offer hands-on experience in working a variety of tasks. Candidates must have strong organizational skills, be able to multi-task, and meet project deadlines. All positions also require good written and verbal communication skills. Interns must be computer savvy and familiar with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook, and Excel. An interest in international or cultural studies is a plus. The position requires working a minimum of 12 hours per week.

Hullabaloo Internship

Non-paying internships are available with the Hullabaloo.

This internship offers hands-on experience in working a variety of tasks. Candidates must have strong organizational skills, be able to multi-task, and meet project deadlines. All positions also require good written and verbal communication skills. Interns must be computer savvy and familiar with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Duties and tasks include: 

-Work directly with an Event Coordinator to help secure merchandise vendors, food vendors and community organizations to participate in Hullabaloo.

-Work with the on-site manager for set up/breakdown and coordination of performing acts.

-Plan and organize the Kids Zone activities.

The position requires working a minimum of 12 hours per week. An interest in event planning a plus.
