The Virginia International PANFest is a celebration of Caribbean culture which highlights the musical roots of the Steel Band phenomenon. Traditionally this annual event is held at indoor and outdoor oceanfront venues in the City of Virginia Beach, Virginia. We are excited to announce that this year we will be returning to the beach for a live, in-person festival and celebration. The two-day event is slated to begin on Friday, May 10, 2024 with educational steel pan workshops presented by world renowned steel pan performers and educators. A minimum of eight (8) to twenty (20) bands from across the country will perform live on Saturday May 11, 2024.
The Virginia International PANFest is an educational event, which strives to create unity and awareness among steel bands from various backgrounds across the United States. Our past Festivals have been quite successful with bands traveling from Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Ohio, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Maryland, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, Texas and Virginia to participate. In 2019, 29 bands from as far as Florida, Ohio, and the US Virgin Islands competed in the Virginia International PANFest as we were also joined by our headlining artist Shawn Thwaites Rebel Quartet ft. Sherwin and Sheldon Thwaites.
This year we are offering three levels of sponsorship to welcome back in the return of live music.
