The Virginia Arts Festival has the following positions currently available:

Director of Production

The Director of Production serves as the primary technical contact for all venues and artists contracted with the Virginia Arts Festival. The Director of Production is responsible for the conception, maintenance, and reconciliation of the production budget including costs surrounding stagehand labor, venue rental, lighting equipment, sound equipment, video equipment, design consultation, vehicle procurement and rental, etc. This position is responsible for the production advancement of all VAF contracted or produced events, concerts, and performances and will review all artist contracts and riders to ensure obligations are met.

Rhythm Project Assistant Director

The Rhythm Project is a year-round community engagement program of the Virginia Arts Festival. The Rhythm Project focuses on steel pan education for 8-18 year-olds reaching roughly 250+ students in 13 individual ensembles throughout three school districts (Norfolk, Portsmouth, & Virginia Beach) in the greater Hampton Roads area of Southeastern Virginia. The Rhythm Project is currently led by a Director and an Associate Director, and is looking to expand its programming and instruction capabilities by adding an additional member to its team. Virginia Arts Festival Marketing/Public Relations Intern(s)

REPORTS TO: Marketing Department

We are looking for proactive, resourceful, and outgoing Marketing/Public Relations Interns for Fall and Spring. Hours are flexible (around 10-20 a week).

Although the position is unpaid, we offer a variety of perks and educational opportunities, as well as opportunities to see Festival performances. As an organization committed to arts education, we are looking for candidates that can not only contribute to our marketing department, but also learn and grow from the opportunity to work with VAF.

Virginia International Tattoo Internships

Non-paying internships are available with the Administrative, Production and Operations departments of the Virginia International Tattoo.

These internships offer hands-on experience in working a variety of tasks. Candidates must have strong organizational skills, be able to multi-task, and meet project deadlines. All positions also require good written and verbal communication skills. Interns must be computer savvy and familiar with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook, and Excel. An interest in international or cultural studies is a plus. The position requires working a minimum of 12 hours per week.

Hullabaloo Internship

Non-paying internships are available with the Hullabaloo.

This internship offers hands-on experience in working a variety of tasks. Candidates must have strong organizational skills, be able to multi-task, and meet project deadlines. All positions also require good written and verbal communication skills. Interns must be computer savvy and familiar with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Duties and tasks include: 

-Work directly with an Event Coordinator to help secure merchandise vendors, food vendors and community organizations to participate in Hullabaloo.

-Work with the on-site manager for set up/breakdown and coordination of performing acts.

-Plan and organize the Kids Zone activities.

The position requires working a minimum of 12 hours per week. An interest in event planning a plus.
